JUNE 2025 NEWSLETTER Banner

As the school year winds down and summer begins, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible journeys shared by our exchange students, host families, and dedicated ICES staff. While the end of the academic year means goodbyes are being said across the country, we know these aren’t endings, they’re beginnings.

The friendships formed, the lessons learned, and the bonds built will last far beyond the classroom. In this month’s newsletter, we’re excited to share heartfelt stories, memorable moments, and proud achievements that remind us why cultural exchange matters. Let’s celebrate a year well spent and the meaningful connections that continue to grow.

In this heartfelt feature published in Montana Parent Magazine and distributed throughout the state, 14-year-old Zoë Wolff shares her beautiful story of welcoming a foreign exchange student into her family and gaining a big brother in the process. When Atiaur from Kazakhstan joined the Wolff household, what began as a cultural exchange quickly blossomed into a lifelong bond. Zoë reflects on their shared experiences, from navigating high school together to inside jokes and late-night Minecraft sessions. Through laughter, support, and genuine connection, Atiaur became more than just a guest, he became family. Stories like this remind us of the profound and lasting impact hosting an exchange student can have on both sides.

“It’s never goodbye… it’s always I’ll see you later.”

That sentiment echoed through every moment as students and staff wrapped up an unforgettable exchange year. Irene, Paula, Alejandro, Kristina, Ana, Tereza, Gabriela, and Alvero from Spain; Gregor and Hanna from Germany; Thiego from Brazil; Simon from the Czech Republic; An and Phong from Vietnam; Carl from Hong Kong; Rohit from India; Seon from South Korea; and Anand from Mongolia—each brought their heart, culture, and unforgettable memories to the exchange experience. In the final days of the school year, alongside ICES Local Coordinator Brianna Godfrey, District Representative Teresa Kelly, and Regional Manager Kim Shreve, the group shared laughter at a Cincinnati Reds game, meaningful moments at a farewell cookout, and pride during a special graduation ceremony. The connections formed are a powerful reminder that it’s never truly goodbye, just “see you later."
