STUDENT OF THE MONTH
We’re thrilled to announce that Berta Fabrega Vivas, from Spain, has been named our Student of the Month! Nominated by her host family in Hastings, Michigan, Berta has amazed everyone with her kindness, resilience, and incredible work ethic.
From the very start, Berta embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. After arriving late due to a school placement issue, she worked hard to catch up academically and joined the cross-country team, quickly making new friends. Her host family shared that she became an instant favorite with their young children, spending hours playing, laughing, and bonding with them.
Berta has also enriched her host family’s life by sharing her Spanish culture. She’s taught them useful phrases, introduced them to a special Christmas tradition they plan to adopt this year, and even set a goal for them to learn a Spanish paragraph together!
Her host family describes her as hardworking, compassionate, and a perfect fit for their home. Whether it’s helping around the house, picking up after the toddlers, or simply bringing joy to their lives, Berta has truly made a lasting impact.
As our Student of the Month, Berta will receive a certificate of achievement, a letter of recommendation from ICES President John Crist, and a $100 Giftogram. Congratulations, Berta, on this well-deserved recognition! Thank you for embodying the spirit of cultural exchange and making such a positive difference.
What a wonderful sight to see all the student athletes of ICES totally crushing it in their first season here in the U.S.! They’ve worked incredibly hard, and it’s amazing to watch them grow, step up, and show what they’re made of. Starting fresh isn’t always easy, but they’re proving they have what it takes to succeed. We’re so proud of everyone and everything you’ve accomplished, keep up the great work!
EXPLORATION
A group of ICES students recently spent an unforgettable day at King Island Amusement Park in Ohio, enjoying the thrills and creating lifelong memories. From conquering towering roller coasters to exploring all the scenic offerings of this iconic American amusement park, the day was filled with laughter and excitement. It was the perfect blend of fun, friendship, and adventure. A special thank you to all the ICES team members and volunteers who made this incredible experience possible!
